Decision concerning the report of the Commission of Inquiry established in accordance with article 26 of the ILO Constitution concerning the non-observance by Myanmar of the FOA Convention, 1948 (No. 87), and the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29)
The Governing Body:
(a) took note of the report of the Commission of Inquiry established in accordance with article 26 of the Constitution concerning non-observance by Myanmar of the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 (No. 87), and the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29), as well as of the reply from the military authorities;
(b) urged the military authorities to desist from any and all acts of retaliation against any individual or organization which provided information to the Commission of Inquiry;
(c) in preparation for a discussion at the upcoming 350th Session of the Governing Body (March 2024), invited the Director-General to prepare a report including options for possible further measures, including those foreseen in the ILO Constitution, to secure compliance by Myanmar with the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry in the event the military authorities do not accept the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry and do not commit to implement them fully and promptly.
